Bond Advocaten recently advised Dutch biotechnology company Solynta on the venture debt financing by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The financing will be provided to Solynta to develop potato seeds with strong resistance to disease and resilience to climate change. The focus of the EIB loan, which is supported under the European Commission’s InvestEU programme, is on the use of true potato seeds instead of traditional tubers for cultivation.

Solynta is a Dutch biotechnology company with its headquarters in Wageningen. It leads the potato breeding world with innovative hybrid potato breeding technology. With this technology, Solynta manages to unlock the true potential of the potato to improve grower well-being and food security worldwide.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the long-term lending institution of the European Union, owned by its Member States. It makes long-term finance available for sound investment in order to contribute towards EU policy goals and national priorities.
